About Lat Long Finder
Lat Long Finder is a free set of latitude-and-longitude tools: an interactive coordinate finder, converters between every common coordinate format, distance and elevation lookups, and reference pages for cities and countries worldwide. There is no account, no signup, and nothing to install — the tools run in your browser, and the coordinates you paste never leave your device unless a lookup explicitly requires an external API (which is always stated on the tool).
Who runs this site
Lat Long Finder is built and maintained by one independent software developer — not a content farm or a network of sites. Every tool on the site exists because someone searched for it and the existing options were clunky: conversions buried in ad-heavy pages, GPX exports locked behind signups, coordinate formats explained badly. The goal is simple utilities that do one thing precisely and load fast.
The site is supported by non-intrusive advertising. No coordinate data you enter is sold, logged for profiling, or shared — see the privacy policy.
Where the data comes from
City and country coordinates come from the GeoNames gazetteer; geocoding and map tiles come from OpenStreetMap; elevation readings come from the Google Elevation API; and all conversions use published, verifiable algorithms on the WGS84 datum. The methodology page documents each source and algorithm in detail, including their accuracy limits.
How the site is maintained
Changes to tools, data, and pages are deliberate and documented in the public changelog. Reference pages are kept intentionally conservative: pages that don't yet add real information beyond the raw coordinate record are excluded from search-engine indexes rather than padded with filler.

Found a coordinate that's off, a conversion that disagrees with your GPS, or a bug? Email hello@latlongfinder.net or use the contact page. Error reports are checked against the primary sources listed in the methodology and corrected or escalated upstream (GeoNames / OpenStreetMap) as appropriate.
